Platelet-rich fibrin or PRF is a liquid derived from our blood. This liquid acts as a temporary volumizer and skin rejuvenator. Usually, the doctor draws two vials of your blood into 10ml tubes. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to form PRF. Shortly after forming, the doctor injects the PRF into your target regions.
A PRF facial injects PRF into the skin using a micro-needling pen. The fluid is injected 1-2 mm into the skin. PRF is essentially a newer generation of PRP. It contains platelets, white blood cells, stem cells and fibrin. PRF treatments are more effective than PRP due to the presence of more growth factors.
For results, several PRF treatments are administered over intervals of 2-4 weeks. The volume effects last between two to three weeks before dissipating. The long-term outcomes such as skin tightening, collagen production and improved skin take up to 3-4 months to show but can last for 6-12 months.
