Emsculpt NEO for Back Pain, Joint Support & Injury Recovery

in Las Vegas

Most people know Emsculpt NEO as a body-contouring treatment. At Dr. K Beauty in Las Vegas, we also use it for something many patients need more: stronger, better-functioning muscles that support a painful back, unstable joints, or a body that’s recovering from injury or surgery.

The same device now carries FDA clearances for medical and rehabilitative use, and our treatments are planned and supervised by Dr. Yekaterina Khronusova, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician with more than 20 years in practice. If you live in Summerlin, Spring Valley, Henderson or anywhere in the Las Vegas valley and want a non-invasive way to rebuild strength and move with less discomfort, this page explains how it works and what to expect.

What Is Emsculpt NEO for Functional Wellness?

Emsculpt NEO, made by BTL, combines two energies in one 30-minute session:

  • HIFEM (high-intensity focused electromagnetic) energy triggers thousands of strong, deep muscle contractions — far more than you can produce voluntarily in a workout — without loading your spine or joints.
  • Synchronized radiofrequency (RF) gently warms the muscle, increasing local blood flow and helping the tissue relax and recover.

For pain and recovery, a dedicated functional wellness protocol uses shorter, controlled pulses designed to “re-educate” the connection between nerve and muscle rather than just exhaust the muscle. The goal is not a slimmer waist — it’s stronger stabilizing muscles in the core, back, hips, glutes and legs that take pressure off painful joints and the lower spine.

What the FDA has cleared Emsculpt NEO for

In October 2024, BTL announced an FDA clearance for Emsculpt NEO to stimulate neuromuscular tissue in the arms and legs for rehabilitative purposes, including:

  • Muscle re-education
  • Prevention or slowing of disuse atrophy (muscle loss from inactivity, injury or surgery)
  • Maintaining or increasing range of motion
  • Relaxation of muscle spasms
  • Increasing local blood circulation
  • Immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf muscles to help prevent venous thrombosis

Emsculpt NEO has since received an additional clearance for the relief of chronic pain, including post-traumatic and post-surgical pain. Both are in addition to its original clearances for body contouring.

Who Are the Best Candidates for Emsculpt NEO Pain and Recovery Treatment?

Emsculpt NEO may be a good fit if you are an adult with:

  • Chronic low back pain linked to a weak core, poor posture or muscle imbalance
  • Knee, hip or shoulder discomfort where stronger surrounding muscles can improve stability
  • Muscle weakness after an injury, surgery or a long period of inactivity
  • Sports and gym injuries — athletes and active adults who want to keep muscles working while an injury limits normal training
  • Age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) affecting balance, walking speed or everyday strength
  • Muscle loss during GLP-1 weight loss (semaglutide, tirzepatide)
  • Postpartum core weakness or abdominal separation once cleared by your OB

Emsculpt NEO is not right for everyone. It is generally not used if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, have metal implants or copper IUDs in or near the treatment area, have a fever, active cancer, or a recent untreated injury, fracture or bleeding in the area. Dr. K reviews your history at your consultation and will refer you for imaging or a specialist evaluation when your pain needs one.

What Are the Benefits of Emsculpt NEO for Pain and Recovery?

  • Non-invasive and drug-free — no needles, no medication, no downtime
  • Strength without strain — builds muscle while you lie comfortably, so painful joints and the spine aren’t loaded
  • Better core and joint stability to support posture and reduce stress on the lower back
  • Improved circulation and muscle relaxation from the RF warmth
  • Faster return to activity — a useful bridge between injury and full training
  • Works alongside physical therapy, chiropractic care and training rather than replacing them

What the research shows

Manufacturer-supported studies presented in 2025 report encouraging early results:

  • In a sham-controlled study of 34 adults with muscle weakness after surgery or inactivity, patients averaged a 52% increase in muscle strength measured by dynamometer after four sessions.
  • In 36 adults with joint or musculoskeletal history, joint-function questionnaire scores improved by an average of 68%, and 82% reported better mobility.
  • In a review of 57 patients treated weekly for four weeks, 75% reported reduced pain and 91% reported no pain during sessions.
  • In adults over 60, a combined Emsculpt NEO and Emsella protocol improved comfortable walking speed by 45.6% and balance by 30.3% at three months.

Individual results vary. These studies are small and supported by the device maker; Emsculpt NEO is intended as part of a broader treatment plan, not a replacement for medical diagnosis or care.

Emsculpt NEO for Gyms, Athletes and Active Las Vegans

Las Vegas has a big training and fitness community, and many of our patients come to us from local gyms after a tweaked back, a sore knee or a stalled recovery. Emsculpt NEO lets you keep muscles firing while you rest the injured area, and helps rebuild the stabilizers that often get skipped in a typical workout. We’re happy to coordinate with your trainer, coach or physical therapist so your sessions fit your training plan. Gym owners and trainers interested in referring members can contact our office.

What’s the First Step?

Every plan starts with a consultation with Dr. K. We’ll talk about where and when your pain started, what you’ve already tried, your activity level and your goals, and review any medications, implants or medical conditions. If Emsculpt NEO is a good fit, we’ll map out which muscle groups to treat (often the core, lower back, glutes and thighs), which protocol to use, and how many sessions you’re likely to need. If something in your history suggests you need imaging or another specialist first, we’ll tell you.

What to Expect on the Day of Your Emsculpt NEO Treatment

Wear comfortable clothes — there’s nothing to prepare. You’ll lie on a treatment bed while flat applicators are strapped over the target muscles. As the session ramps up you’ll feel warmth and strong, rhythmic muscle contractions, similar to an intense workout. We adjust the intensity to your comfort throughout. Each session takes about 30 minutes, and you can drive yourself home or go straight back to work.

There is no downtime. Some patients feel mild muscle soreness, like after a hard workout, for a day or two. Stay hydrated and keep moving normally. We often recommend gentle stretching or walking between sessions, and you can usually continue your regular physical therapy or training plan.

How Much Does Emsculpt NEO Cost in Las Vegas?

Cost depends on how many areas we treat and how many sessions your plan includes. Most functional plans are a series of four sessions, with optional maintenance sessions afterward. Emsculpt NEO is generally not covered by health insurance, but you may be able to use an HSA or FSA card — check with your plan administrator. We’ll give you an exact quote at your consultation.
